Category

Category allows you to categories or group tools and equipment into various groups. Category can have one of more sub categories, allowing for fine tuning of groups

Security

User must have Administer Category right to create or edit category.

Category List

Shows list of all top level categories. You search for category by name or code. Advance filter allows you to filter categories by Inventory Type. You can also sort categories by name or code.

How to Create Category

  1. From Category tab, click Create Category.
  2. Enter category name. Optionally, enter category code, description and Inventory Type. You can also select an icon or upload a photo.
  3. Click Create to create category.

How to Edit Category

  1. From Category tab, select category you want to edit.
  2. Update category details as required.
  3. Click Save to update category.

Additional Actions

Delete: If a category is no longer required, you can Delete it.

Sub Category

Sub Category allows you to create sub categories under a category. You can also edit existing sub categories as well.

How to Create Sub Category

  1. Click Sub Categories under a category.
  2. Click Create Category.
  3. Enter sub category name. Optionally, enter sub category code, description and Inventory Type. You can also select an icon or upload a photo.
  4. Click Create to create sub category.

How to Edit Sub Category

  1. Click Sub Categories under a category.
  2. Select sub category you want to edit.
  3. Update sub category details as required.
  4. Click Save to update sub category.

Delete: If a sub category is no longer required, you can Delete it.

Custom Fields

You can define custom fields that will apply to all assets that are under this category. You can define fields that are common to all tools, as well as define fields for inventory (individual tool).

For fields that apply to all tools, Select Catalog under Context. For fields that apply to inventory, Select Inventory under Context.

How to create custom fields

  1. click Add Custom Field.
  2. Enter field name and type. Optionally, enter if field is required. For list fields, enter comma separated list of values.
  3. Click Add to create custom field.

You can add more fields as required. Once all fields are created, click Save to save custom fields.

How to Edit Custom Fields

  1. click Edit Custom Field.
  2. Click Pencil icon to edit custom field. or click Trash icon to delete custom field.
  3. Click Update to update custom field.
  4. You can use drag and drop to reorder custom fields.
  5. Click Save to save changes

Bulk Upload

With Bulk upload of Categories, you can quickly import and add list of categories and sub categories. You will need to upload a CSV file with the following columns:
