Tracking and Managing Tools Without Barcodes

ToolWorks makes it simple to track and manage tools, even if they don’t have barcodes. Whether you're just starting out or managing a small inventory, follow these steps to add, transfer, search, and assign tools effortlessly.

Adding Tools with AI Vision

Easily add tools to your inventory using the SnapToAdd feature, powered by AI Vision.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Tools tab and select Add Tool or tap the + icon.
  2. Snap a photo of the tool or upload an existing image.
  3. Review the AI-generated tool details. Edit them if needed, then click Add to save.

Tip: This feature is perfect for quickly digitizing your tool inventory without needing barcodes.

Transferring Tools to a Job Site

Keep track of where your tools are by transferring them to specific job sites.

Steps:

  1. Open the Tools tab and search for the tools you need.
  2. Click Add to Cart to group the items for transfer.
  3. Go to the Cart, click Transfer, select the job site, and confirm the transfer.

Assistant Shortcut:
Say, "Transfer cordless drill and two toolboxes to Site A." The Assistant will handle the details for you.

Searching for Tools

Locate tools quickly by searching your inventory.

Steps:

  1. Use the Search bar in the Tools tab to enter a tool name or keyword.
  2. For more filters, use Advanced Search to find tools by manufacturer, model, or other attributes.
  3. To search across all locations, enable the All Stores option.

Assistant Shortcut:
Say, "Find a 20V cordless drill by DeWalt across all stores." The Assistant will find the tools and show availability.

Assigning Tools to Users

Ensure accountability by assigning tools directly to team members.

Steps:

  1. Find the tools in the Tools tab and click Add to Cart.
  2. In the Cart, select Assign, choose the user, and confirm the checkout.

Assistant Shortcut:
Say, "Assign the hammer drill to Sarah." The Assistant will manage the process for you.

Q: Can I start without barcodes and add them later?
Yes, you can add barcodes at any time to tools already in your inventory.

Q: Can I manage some tools with barcodes and others without?
Absolutely! ToolWorks supports mixed barcode and non-barcode tools seamlessly.
